Welcome to Babies by Gammy!

My name is Kay and I am the dolly doctor and artist at Babies by Gammy.  I am the very proud Mom of a great 11-year old, who also loves dolls (lucky for me!) and often assists me in cleaning, repairing and restoration work.  She also makes her own reborn babies and loves to do the ''mini-babies''!
Babies by Gammy is a family affair, with my mother assisting in sewing.  She sews all of the ''FlexyBabyBody'' armatured body especially made for reborns and has since before license was granted to me to sell them.  They make the reborn dolls so poseable and real!

I have always loved dolls.  When I was little, one of my favorite dolls was a Mattel ''Sister Belle''.  I had a small toy piano and together we would spend hours making music.  Soon, she was replaced (though not forgotten!  Sister Belle still sits on my shelf today!) by a Madame Alexander Pussy Cat.  Oh!  How I loved this doll.  Up and down the street with the baby stroller I would go, together with my friends and their babies.  We were quite the little mommies!

After back surgery rendered me disabled, I decided one day to take my dolls apart and give them a good cleaning - that led to finding out how to make some other minor repairs.  And then I discovered eBay.  I began buying dolls and repairing them, learning more all the time and finding wonderful people online to guide me when I didn't know how to do something.  Soon I was doing major restoration work on all kinds of dolls - porcelain and/or bisque, composition, hard plastic, vinyl and cloth.  I was truly addicted.

In 2003, I discovered my first ''Reborn Baby'' on eBay.  After looking for many months, I finally found one I could afford.  I was so excited ... and then he arrived.  Oh no!  He looked nothing like his photos and so I needed to know how to correct him.  Before long, I had found a great online doll group to join and not only fixed the doll I had purchased but was making my own!

My heart still belongs to Pussy Cat and I now own more than I'll admit to, along with over 1500 other dolls in my personal collection, ranging from late 1800s tin-head dolls, including 1920-40s composition, and many many vintage hard plastic and vinyl, and of course, a fair amount of reborns!

Thanks for stopping in to meet us and we hope you enjoy your visit at Babies by Gammy.  Please email with any questions about any of our dolls, reborn babies or clothing and accessories!

Because I think she is - of course! - the most beautiful 11-year old anywhere, I leave you now with one more photo ...
